Wild Lotus Fashions Pvt Ltd (WLFPL), an initiative of MGM Minerals Limited is the latest addition to Wazir's squadron of engineered factories. It is an apparel manufacturing unit located in Khurdha 22 Km away from the state capital of Odisha. The unit aims to tap the huge potential of the apparel industry of the state, particularly the export segment and the big employment opportunities it provides.
Mr. Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, virtually inaugurated the facility on 23rd July 2021. The facility is spread across three acres, employing close to 2000 persons, 90% of which are women. The unit has an installed capacity of 950 sewing machines and is a fully compliant export unit. Wild Lotus garment manufacturing facility plans to supply apparels to many domestic giants. Going forward, they plan to start exporting to international brands and buyers from USA and Europe. Wild Lotus Fashions is the third major garmenting project in Odisha after Shahi Exports and Aditya Birla.
Wazir Apparel Start-up and Re-engineering Assistance (WASTRA), has played a key role in planning and implementing the project. The initial phase of the project involved a structured and methodical assessment of the opportunities in the segment, which included identifying feasible product categories, required manufacturing technologies, sourcing of raw material and identifying the potential buyers.
When asked about the process of business opportunity assessment, Business Director at Wazir, Surender Jain walked us through the steps taken, “We started with understanding the global supply chain in textile & apparel industry and India’s position to identify the right product mix. Our research was aimed at gathering information addressable markets, trade scenarios and expected business size and returns.” The key factor in planning includes fitting the strategy with client’s vision and expectations. He said “The most critical part of a project is deciding the level of business integration required and existing strengths that can be leveraged. We study the client’s expectations in terms of size, profitability, scalability, market mix, and constraints, before making the final recommendations.” Finally, Wazir conducted a comprehensive techno-commercial evaluation. This also included technological considerations, business scale-up possibility, risks and mitigation strategy along with other competence requirement.
The factory is a 100% compliant unit with many GREEN initiatives like Solar Pedestal with capacity of 450 KWP and Rain Water Harvesting along with ground water recharge with 7 pits (Deep Bores). The factory is equipped with Fire Hydrant facility and a standard response 68 degrees automatic sprinkler system for Firefighting and protection. It is supported by an exclusive sprinkler pumping and alarm system operating at 2280 LPM water flow. Capacity of recycled water from STP and ETP is 120 & 20 KLD respectively. The facility is set up in 3 acres where 45.46% is utilized for construction and balance is for greenery and others.
